Boy George admits he stole makeup from Woolworths before finding fame

Boy George made a surprising admission when he appeared on Monday's This Morning.

The pop sensation, 59, who grew up in London's Bexleyheath, revealed that he used to steal cosmetics from Woolworths back in the 80s as he discussed experimenting with makeup and fashion is a teenager.

Prior to sharing that he nabbed some items without paying, host Ruth Langsford, 60, dubbed the Culture Club hitmaker a "trailblazer".

She then quizzed Boy George on where he got his makeup from before finding fame as items were not as accessible as they are today.

Ruth asked Boy George - real name George Alan O'Dowdon - if he used to use his mum's products.

He replied: "No, she only used a blue eyeshadow - which was not enough for me!"

The singer-songwriter then told: "I used to go into Woolworths. I'd pay for some stuff and some fell into my purse!"

In response to his words, Ruth and husband Eamonn Holmes then giggled before swiftly moving on.

Boy George's incredible life story is being made into a film and it is set to be brutally honest.

His writing partner and movie director Sasha Gervasi revealed to The Mirror: “George has thrived on his authenticity, the fact he has been so ruthlessly, almost alarmingly honest.

"I think the film has to reflect that.

“We’re hoping to embrace that and push it a little bit farther than it was in those other films. It’s a little bit tougher, the Boy George story, a little bit less polished.”

Gervasi added: “Jon Glickman who runs MGM said, ‘Be dangerous, be crazy’. People want original films.

“You have to be truthful. At the same time, you don’t want to alienate people if you go too far.

“But we’ll err on the side of the more provocative. George is unapologetic in the best possible way and I’m excited to reflect that.”
