Boy, eight, seriously injured after being mauled by two dogs

A schoolboy was rushed to hospital after being attacked by two dogs.

The eight-year-old suffered "serious" injuries in the frightening incident.

The youngster was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow immediately after the attack in Johnstone last Thursday.

He has since been released.

Officers confirmed a man and woman, both aged 66, have been charged in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report that an eight-year-old boy had been attacked by two dogs in Johnstone, around 6pm on Thursday, July 16.

"The boy was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children with serious injuries and has since been released.

"A man and a woman, both aged 66, have been charged in connection and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal."
