Boy dies month after dad, coked up bully and prison stillbirth

Good morning, these are the latest ECHO headlines today.

Boy, 5, who 'made people smile everyday' dies month after dad

A little boy died on New Year's Eve, just one month after the death of his dad.

Jayden-Jay Silvester, who was lovingly known as JJ, sadly died in hospital on December 31, just 34 days after his dad Jason Silvester died on November 27.

Mum Lisa Silvester, who lived in Liverpool city centre before moving to Stoke-on-Trent, paid tribute to her five-year-old son who she said will be "missed and forever in everybody's thoughts."

Now friends and family are rallying around Lisa and have launched an online fundraising appeal. More than £2,000 has already been raised towards the £8,000 target.

Best friend Cheryl-Marie Tomlinson, from Speke and who lived with Lisa in the city centre for several years, is one of the people rallying around the mum-of-two.

Coked up dad punched ex in face then cowered under bed sheets

A coked-up dad punched his ex in the face before hiding under bed sheets when she called the police.

Christopher Halewood showed up at the home of his former partner - who the ECHO has chosen not to name - and assaulted her, after taking cocaine and going to her address even though he was banned from doing so.

The ensuing assault saw the 39-year-old hit his victim in the face and drag her around the hallway by her hair before trying to throw an empty vodka bottle and an iron at her.

'Terror and pain' of mum whose baby was stillborn in prison toilet block

A terrified mum who was unaware she was pregnant gave birth to a stillborn baby girl in the toilet block of a prison, a report has found.

The woman, who had been convicted of assault and criminal damage, was serving a 35 week jail sentence at HMP Styal in Cheshire which was her first time behind bars.

An investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO) found there were no signs that the 30-year-old, referred to as 'Ms B', was pregnant before she gave birth on the evening of June 18, 2020.

She told the PPO inspection team she was completely unaware she was pregnant before that date, and when she began her sentence told prison staff she could not be pregnant as she did not have sexual relationships with men.

However on the day she went into labour she began to recall an incident in September 2019, when she had woken up in unfamiliar surroundings with no memory of the night before.
