Boy dies after falling out of hotel window in UK city

A little boy has died falling out of a hotel window in a UK city centre.

A boy fell from a window at the Sheffield Metropolitan Hotel on Blonk Street, Sheffield on Wednesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 2.30pm after the alarm was raised.

The boy’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

South Yorkshire Police said: “We are sorry to share a boy has sadly died after falling from a building in Sheffield this afternoon.

“Emergency services were called to the Sheffield Metropolitan Hotel on Blonk Street, Sheffield at around 2.30pm on Wednesday (18 August) after reports the boy had fallen from a window.

“No formal identification has taken place yet.

“Enquiries are in the early stages to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”

The Standard has approached the Sheffield Metropolitan Hotel for further comment.
