Boy devastated that he left parrot cuddly toy on bus - can you help find it?

The mother of a boy who left a parrot cuddly toy that he had just bought from the Christmas markets is asking for people's help in finding it.

Sharon Gallier, 40, from Newton Heath , says her 15-year-old son Shea, bought the Wild Republic toy on Thursday afternoon as part of a school trip.

"He gets a new plush from the same stall every year," Sharon told the Manchester Evening News .

"They're quite expensive but he collects them - he just loves wild animals.

"He has a crocodile and a giant squid, and he wanted the parrot because it's got flapping wings like a dragon.

"He had been waiting since last year's markets to get the parrot."

After visiting the Christmas markets, the school students and their teachers got on the 192 bus to return back to school in Longsight .

As soon as they got off the bus, at around 2.40pm, Shea quickly realised that he had left the parrot toy on the bus.

Teachers tried to alert the driver to stop but he had already left by the time they realised.

Following the Longsight stop, the 192 bus then heads towards Heaton Chapel before terminating at Stockport .

Sharon says that Shea, who has autism, was upset that he had left the toy on the bus.

"He was absolutely devastated about it, he couldn't get to sleep last night," she said.

"He said to me 'I hope somebody nice did find my parrot'. It was making my heart bleed for him.

"He's a lovely boy and has a great sense of humour, he told me this morning that losing the parrot was '£20 up the Swanny!'"

The bright Macaw toy has blue feathers running down its back, wings and tail, alongside a yellow belly and a green patch on the top of its head.

Sharon said she has reported it to the bus company, but they have been told to keep trying.

"We have contacted the bus company but they've had no luck in finding it at the depot yet," Sharon added.

"I have said that if we can't find it then we will buy another one, but it will have to wait until after Christmas before I can afford to pay for a new one."

Stagecoach has been contacted for comment.
