A boy charged with murder in Hartcliffe could face trial in October.
The 15-year-old appeared at Bristol Crown Court today (June 3, 2019), having been charged with the murder of 20-year-old Michael-Lee Rice in April this year.
The lad, wearing a dark grey suit and pink shirt and tie, was permitted to leave the dock and sit in Court Two.
The judge and barristers removed their wigs for the 25-minute hearing.
It is claimed the boy threw a YoBike into the path of a motorcycle Mr Rice was riding by the Fulford Arms pub.
Mr Rice collided with a van and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Adam Vaitilingam QC, prosecuting, said any trial is projected to last some 10 days.
He said the prosecution has a collision report in hand and has retrieved CCTV which puts the incident into a much clearer context.
Catherine Spedding, defending, said the defence was in the course of obtaining psychiatric and psychological reports on their client as well as their own collision report.
The Recorder of Bristol His Honour Judge Peter Blair QC sent the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to secure accommodation pending a further hearing on August 27.
He told the youth: "We'll be looking at such things as what the doctors are saying about you and how to manage any trial and how you can understand what is going on."
