Police have charged a 16-year-old boy in connection with an alleged knife attack that left a man seriously injured in Kilmarnock.
Officers were called to the Glebe Road area of the town at around 9.35pm on Thursday, March 18, following reports of disturbance.
A 56-year-old man was found to have sustained serious injuries after leaving the Wellbeck fish and chip shop.
He was rushed to hospital for treatment of his serious torso injuries.
A major investigation was launched to find anyone involved with officers carrying out extensive enquiries in the local area.
Police Scotland have now confirmed that they have arrested and charged a teenager in connection.
The youth was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, March 29.
Detective Inspector Andrea Templeton said: "We continue to conduct enquiries into the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 3831 of 18 March."
