Boy B lodges appeal against conviction for murdering 14-year-old schoolgirl Ana Kriegel

One of the teenage boys convicted of murdering schoolgirl Ana Kriegel has lodged an appeal against his conviction.

Boy B was sentenced to 15 years’ detention, with a review after eight years.

The earliest release date for the now 15-year-old, who lured the "lonely and vulnerable" 14-year-old to the abandoned farmhouse and watched as she was violently sexually assaulted, is in June 2027.

Boy A, who was also convicted of aggravated sexual assault, was sentenced at Dublin’s Central Criminal Court to life, with a review period after 12 years.

They murdered Ana at an abandoned and derelict farmhouse at Laraghcon, Clonee Road in Dublin some time shortly after 5pm on May 14, 2018.

They had pleaded not guilty to murder but were convicted unanimously by a jury earlier this year.
