Boy airlifted to Alder Hey Hospital with serious injuries after bike crash

A boy was airlifted to Alder Hey childrens' hospital after suffering serious injuries this weekend.

The 15-year-old youngster suffered serious leg injuries after he fell from his mountain bike while at the Dyfi Bike Park near Machynlleth, Wales on Saturday afternoon, reports North Wales Live .

A Wales Air Ambulance crew, paramedics and mountain rescue volunteers were all involved in the operation to help the boy.

A spokesman for Aberdyfi Search and Rescue team said: "Shortly before 1pm on Saturday call handlers from Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team were requested to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service crews in assisting an injured mountain bike rider near Machynlleth.

"The 15-year-old male suffered serious leg injuries in a fall from his bike on the down-hill trails at Dyfi Bike Park, and was attended by paramedic crews from the ambulance service and a critical care team from the Air Ambulance which had been able to land closeby.

"When the casualty had been stabilised by the medical personnel, team volunteers moved the teenager to waiting vehicles on a wheeled stretcher.

"The rider was then transferred to the air ambulance and flown to hospital for further treatment."

According to information from Flightradar24.com, the boy was flown to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool for additional treatment after his fall.
