Boy aged 14 faces points on his licence before he's even able to get one

A 14-year-old boy faces having points on his driving licence before he's even old enough to get one.

Police said the teenager was caught riding an electric bike at 40mph in a "dangerous manner" around Dingle on Thursday afternoon.

Officers were able to locate the boy and stop him, but they have appealed to people to understand how dangerous the bikes are.

The scoolboy faces having points on his licence, the force said.

In a statement on Twitter, police said: "Officers from Admiral Street have stopped a 14-year-old in the Dingle area.

"[He] were riding an electric bike almost reaching 40mph in a dangerous manner.

"Not only are these bikes unsafe, they are also illegal.
