Boy, 9, suffers head injury as man arrested for 'careless driving'

A nine-year-old boy suffered a head injury in a car crash with a driver who was arrested at the scene.

Emergency services were called to Princess Way/Sandy Road in Seaforth , at 9.05am this morning, January 21, to reports of crash between a Peugeot and a Volkswagen Golf.

The child, who was travelling in the Peugeot at the time of the incident, suffered a head injury.

The driver of the golf, a 34-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving.

Photos taken at the scene today show the barrier at the side of the road which has been badly damaged during the crash.

A tyre from one of the vehicles can also be seen stuck inside the barrier on the road side.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police, said: "We were called at 9.05am today to reports of a two vehicle RTC between a Peugeot and a Volkswagen Golf on Princess Way/Sandy Road.

"A 34 year-old man, the driver of the Golf, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving.

"A 9 year-old boy in the Peugeot suffered a head injury.

"Enquiries ongoing."
