Boy, 9, sneaks onto plane completely unnoticed and ends up 1,600 miles from home

A nine-year-old boy took himself on an extraordinary trip after he ran away from home and snuck onto an plane.

Emanuel Marques de Oliveira has left airlines, police and his parents scratching their heads after he Googled “how to get onto a plane unnoticed” and travelled 1,677 miles.

The young boy was reported missing by his parents in the city of Manaus, located in north-western Brazil, on the morning of Saturday, 26th February.

Emanuel’s mother, Daniele Marques, said she noticed her son's disappearance in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She said: "I woke up at 5:30 am, went to his room, and saw that he was sleeping normally.

"Then I fiddled with my mobile phone a little and got up again, at 7:30 am, and that is when I realised that he was no longer in his bedroom and I started to panic."

Daniele spent the whole day searching for her son before fdiscovering that he had ended up 1,677 miles away in the city of Guarulhos, in south-western Brazil - the other side of the country.

Emanuel had reportedly boarded a Latam flight without a ticket.

The Manaus airport management are currently investigating how a nine-year-old boy was able to board an aeroplane with no travel documents and no luggage.

The police have also requested security camera images from the airport and have started an investigation.

Officers stated that the young boy had acted alone and without the help of adults, having looked up on the Internet "how to get on a plane unnoticed".

The police also said that there was no history of violence in the family and that the boy had simply decided to travel to Sao Paulo to visit some of his other family members.
