Boy, 9, fighting for his life after he was knocked off bike

A nine-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after he was knocked off his bike by a car.

Police were called by the North West Ambulance Service just before 5.50pm today ( Sunday) to a report that a child had been knocked off his bike on Lathum Close in Prescot. The driver of a Ford Fiesta involved in the accident drove the boy home.

The boy, who had sustained a head injury, was then taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where his condition is described as critical. The driver of the Fiesta is assisting police with enquiries into the incident.

There was a police cordon in place at the scene today. People expressed concern about the incident on social media.
