Boy, 9, breaks leg in two places at trampoline park forcing family to cancel holiday

A nine-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with his bone sticking out after he broke his leg in two places at a trampoline park.

Harri Hughes, from Conwy, Wales, had to endure a three hour operation following the incident at Flip-Out trampoline park in Chester.

His family were forced to miss their dream holiday to Florida as he had to stay in Alder Hey Children's Hospital for a week while he recovered.

Flip-Out have now launched an investigation into the incident.

Keen sports star Harri was enjoying himself at his friend's friend's birthday party on July 28 when he suffered the horror fall, reports North Wales Live.

Paramedics called to the scene decided the break was so bad that he should be rushed to Alder Hey and not the Countess of Chester Hospital where they would usually take such cases.

Harri is now on a phased return to school and medics don't know when he will be able to play sports again.

He was a star player at Llandudno Rugby Club last season-scoring 100 tries.

His father Stephen has contacted Flip-Out to ask for CCTV footage of the accident-so far the attraction has so far refused, citing data-protection issues.

"It was a horrible situation as we weren't even with Harri when it happened, we got a call telling us about it from the very shocked mum whose child's party it was," said Harri's mother Catherine.

"He had to stay in Alder Hey for a week, but are very pleased by his progress but they don't really know when he is going to be off crutches and is on a phased return to school.

"We were supposed to be going to Florida for a holiday soon after it happened but that had to be cancelled, but we've reassured Harri we can go again."

Earlier this month, Harri celebrated his 10 birthday and instead of birthday presents, the kind-hearted youngster asked instead for donations to be given to Alder Hey - the hospital which treated him after the incident.

He also embarked on a 5km sponsored walk on his crutches in Llandudno to raise money.

A spokesperson from Flip Out said: "We are very sorry to hear about the accident that took place at our Chester store and we hope that the young man involved makes a speedy recovery.

"Flip Out take health and safety extremely seriously at all their stores across the UK.

"An investigation has been launched into the incident and we are awaiting the results."
