Boy, 8, tragically passes away after being savagely attacked by dogs in Tallaght, Dublin

A boy has tragically died following injuries sustained after being savagely attacked by two Rottweiler dogs in Dublin.

The eight-year-old boy was fighting for his life overnight after the shocking incident on Sunday afternoon.

He was rushed to Tallaght Hospital shortly after the attack which happened at around 4pm.

The boy was later transferred to Children's Health Ireland at Crumlin where he was in a critical condition.

Gardai confirmed on Monday afternoon that the boy had sadly passed away.

Gardai confiscated the dogs and have notified the dog warden.

A full investigation into this incident is underway by Gardaí at Tallaght Garda Station.

A garda spokesman said: "The male child (8) who was seriously injured yesterday Sunday 22nd March 2020 following a reported attack by a number of dogs in the Tallaght area passed away this morning Monday 23rd March 2020 at Children's Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin."
