Boy, 8, taken to hospital after he was hit by a car

An eight-year-old boy ended up in hospital after being hit by a car in Tameside .

It is understood the driver stopped at the scene initially but then drove off without providing any details.

The collision happened on Buckton Drive in Stalybridge at around 3.45pm on Wednesday and was reported to GMP later that night.

Police say the child suffered minor injuries - believed to be cuts and bruises - and was later taken to hospital for treatment.

He has since been discharged.

The car that collided with him is thought to have been a silver 15-plate.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Police called shortly before 10pm on Wednesday, December 11.

"It was reported that earlier in the day, at around 3.45pm, a pedestrian was in collision with a vehicle on Buckton Drive, Stalybridge.

"The pedestrian, an eight-year-old boy, later attended hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
