Boy, 8, 'stabbed by group of young people while playing' suffers injured hand

An eight-year-old boy suffered an injured hand after he was alleged stabbed by a group of young people while playing.

Police are investigating after an eyewitness claimed they say the child stabbed during the incident in Dover on Monday, though officers have yet to confirm what happened.

The boy suffered a hand injury, but did not need an ambulance to be treated, officers said.

Kent Police launched an investigation and remained at the scene for several hours yesterday, Kent Live reports.

Officers are now appealing for information following the incident and are asking witnesses to get in touch.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police is making enquiries into a report a boy was assaulted by a group of young people while playing in the Beaufoy Road area of Dover during the day on Monday, April 5.

"The boy sustained a hand injury, which did not require the ambulance service to attend.

"Anyone with information regarding the incident should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/55921/21."
