Boy, 8, left with serious injuries after being savaged by two dogs in Johnstone

An eight-year-old boy has been left with "serious" injuries after being savaged by two dogs in Johnstone.

The youngster was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow following the terrifying incident on Hagg Crescent on Thursday.

Police are now investigating the attack, which happened on Thursday night, before being reported to cops on Sunday.

Officers confirmed a man and woman, both aged 66, have been charged in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Sunday, 19 July, 2020, we received a report that a eight-year-old boy had been attacked by two dogs in Hagg Crescent, Johnstone, around 6pm on Thursday, 16 July.

"The boy was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children with serious injuries and has since been released.

"A man and a woman, both aged 66, have been charged in connection and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal."
