Boy, 8, finds sister on the floor and saves her life thanks to quick thinking

A quick-thinking eight year-old rescued his big sister from going into a diabetic coma when he found her collapsed on the bathroom floor.

Addie Jacobs (known as AJ by his family) alerted his mum and ran downstairs to get gluco gel to feed it to his 13-year-old sister Lexxi, who has Type 1 diabetes.

Fortunately the hero schoolboy's swift response prevented Lexxi's condition worsening.

Mum Kerry, from Stockbridge Village, said: "AJ found his sister on the floor in the bathroom because her blood sugar had dropped.

"As I was on the phone to the ambulance he fed her gluco gel and held her legs up while she was coming around to help circulate the blood.

"It was very lucky he found her when he did.

"He remembered when she collapsed twice in front of him, even though he was only three to four years old. He knew exactly what to do."

AJ's impressive actions come as he is currently being assessed for autism.

His mum added: "I'm really proud of him. He's quite a nervous child and after it happened he didn't want to go to school because he wanted to keep an eye on her. It was playing on his mind."
