An eight-year-old boy has died while playing hide and seek after he got trapped between a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Wrangler Hendrix, from Texas, was discovered “wedged between a washer and dryer” on Friday after the game went wrong at a relatives’ home in Coolidge, Georgia, police said.

Immediately his family started CPR when they found the child.

He was then rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Thomas County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Watkins told People.com: “The child was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia, where resuscitation attempts continued.

“After about an hour, he was pronounced dead.”

He added: “The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of Wrangler.”

There were many tributes in an online condolence book for the boy following the tragedy.

Among them, one from his school bus driver read: “Wrangler was a sweetheart. So thankful for time I got to be his bus driver.

“He was so well-mannered and took care of his sister. They were so excited about their trip and the beach.

“We joked about wearing lots of sunscreen as they got off the bus. Rest in heavenly peace, Wrangler.”
