Scots boy, 7, rushed to hospital after wall crushes his legs in horror accident

A youngster has been left with serious injures after a wall collapsed on him in Glasgow.

Seven-year-old Edison Moffat was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children last night after concrete bricks from a bin shelter on Rigby Crescent, Carntyne, fell on top of him crushing his legs.

Edison, who trains with Rangers FC Boys Club and Finnart Boys Club, had been playing with pals when the horror accident happened at around 6.30pm.

Edison's gran rushed to his aid after being told her grandson had been injured.

She said: "He was just lying on the ground and couldn't put weight on his legs. The swelling was really bad. He kept saying it wasn't sore but you could tell he was in agony.

"He said he was playing tig with his friend and tried to jump up on the wall when part of it crumbled on top of him.

"The bricks fell on his legs. It was awful."

He sustained a fracture on his left ankle and and shattered two bones on his right ankle.

The Carntyne Primary pupil is currently receiving treatment at the Glasgow hopsital.

Edison's mum Ashlie Farrow rushed home from work after hearing what happened to her boy.

The distraught mum-of-two said: "It's awful. He's in a bad way and in a lot of pain.

"I keep thinking what could have happened. The bricks could have fell on his head. We're lucky he is alive."

Natalie and her family moved into their Bellway Homes house on Myreside Street around seven years ago.

Keen footballer Edison has been told his recovery will take around four months.

Natalie said her son is totally gutted he'll be out of the game for so long.

She said: He loved football. It's his life. He was excelling at it and playing in teams with boys older than him. He's gutted and really upset he won't be able to play for so long.

"We also don't know the long-term effects this will have on him. Who knows if he will ever play the same again."

Bellway Homes have been contacted for comment.
