Boy, 7, rushed to hospital after being crushed by wall as he played with friends

A young footballer has suffered serious leg injuries after a wall collapsed on him as he played with friends.

Edison Moffat, who trains with  Rangers FC  Boys Club and Finnart Boys Club, was rushed to hospital after concrete bricks from a bin shelter crushed his legs at around 6.30pm.

The boy's gran rushed to his aid after being told about the horror accident in Glasgow, the Daily Record reports.

She said: "He was just lying on the ground and couldn't put weight on his legs.

Doctors say it will take at least four months for Edison to recover (Daily Record)

"The swelling was really bad. He kept saying it wasn't sore but you could tell he was in agony.

"He said he was playing tig with his friend and tried to jump up on the wall when part of it crumbled on top of him.

"The bricks fell on his legs. It was awful."

He sustained a fracture on his left ankle and and shattered two bones on his right ankle.

Edison's mum Natalie Farrow rushed home from work after hearing what happened to her boy.

The distraught mum-of-two said: "It's awful. He's in a bad way and in a lot of pain.

"I keep thinking what could have happened. The bricks could have fell on his head. We're lucky he is alive."

Medics at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children say Edison's recovery will take around four months.

The family moved into their Bellway Homes house around seven years ago.

Natalie said her son is totally gutted he'll be out of the game for so long.

She said: He loved football. It's his life.

"He was excelling at it and playing in teams with boys older than him. He's gutted and really upset he won't be able to play for so long.

"We also don't know the long-term effects this will have on him. Who knows if he will ever play the same again."

Bellway Homes have been contacted for comment.
