Boy, 7, makes fitness videos for schoolmates during coronavirus lockdown

A seven-year-old boy has been making fitness videos for his schoolmates to help them keep active while staying at home during the coronavirus lockdown.

Evan George started sharing fitness videos in March on his YouTube and Instagram pages, both called Move with Evan.

He does exercises such as sit ups, press ups and burpees, and his classmates can copy him from home.

“They’ve been copying me do all my workouts,” Evan told BBC News.

“I want people to be fit.”

Evan’s father Dan said his son was “really disappointed” when school was cancelled due to Covid-19.

“So he wanted to do kind of a couple of different videos just to get his school friends involved as well,” he told BBC News.

“We’d look at things like key movements, ability, balance co-ordination. It was just a fun way of trying to make it all together.

Evan incorporates other aspects of the school curriculum that children are missing out on into his workouts – such as the times table.

“It’s really satisfying to see,” Dan added.

“It’s obviously getting people moving more, and hopefully keeping the kids engaged, and hopefully giving the parents a bit of time off – for at least five or ten minutes while the kids are doing a bit of exercise.”
