Boy, 7, in hospital with 'serious injuries' after being hit by car as Scots cops launch probe

A seven-year-old boy is in hospital with 'serious injuries' after being hit by a car on a Scots street.

Officers from Police Scotland appealed for anyone with information to come forward after the horror crash in Airdrie last night.

We told how emergency services raced to the Gartleahill area of the Lanarkshire town at around 5.30pm on October 13.

The boy had been mowed down by the grey Ford Kuga and was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.

Police have now confirmed his injuries while saying the two occupants of the car were left unhurt.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder, of the Road Policing Unit in Motherwell, said: "Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident.

"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward if you haven't already spoken to an officer.

"In particular we would be keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage which could help our enquiries.

"If you have any information then please call 101, quoting incident 2412 of 13 October."
