Boy, 7, dies after accidentally locking himself in car boot for hours in 37C heat

A young boy has died after trapping himself for hours in his parents' car boot in sweltering heat.

CCTV footage shows the final moments of the boy before he locked himself inside the vehicle in a car park.

The seven-year-old can be seen approaching a white saloon and trying to open the front door.

He then walks towards the back of the door and finds the car boot left open.

The child accidentally locks himself inside after climbing in and closing the boot completely.

The incident happened yesterday at the city of Huai'an, Jiangsu province of eastern China.

Huai'an Police said the boy had been reported missing and the officers were looking for the boy through public security cameras.

Unfortunately, the boy was found dead hours later, according to police.

It's believed the boy was suffocated inside the car.

The video later shows the parents shedding tears as they hold the boy's lifeless body.

Onlookers watch on as one says: "The child is dead."

The local weather was reported to have reached 37 degrees yesterday, the police said.
