Boy, 6, saves his pocket money to buy police a box of food for Christmas

A six-year-old boy with dreams to become a police officer saved up his pocket money to buy the force some Christmas treats.

The young lad, who hasn't been named, brought a box of goodies to the offices of Thames Valley Police in Reading.

A box of cool mint Matchmakers, six mince pies, some PG Tips and a bag of Heroes were amongst the treats.

A note explaining the gift was also included.

"Dear police," the letter reads.

"I am six and when I grow up I want to be a policeman.

"I really love Cars and Ninja Turtles. I hope I have been good for Santa.

" I made you a treat box to help you on Christmas when you're putting bad people in jail because police are the best.

"Thank you for your good work."

Penny Jones, who works as a neighbourhood inspector for TVP, enthused about receiving the gift.

She said: "A lovely 6- year-old boy has been saving his pocket money and bought this box to the police station for staff working on Christmas.

"Thank you from all of us."

The generous gift was met with warm words on Twitter after Inspector Jones posted a photo of the gift and letter.

One woman wrote: "How adorable. We’re clearly in safe hands if this is the next generation."

Another added: "Bless him! Dare we hope he is the future Generation?"
