A young boy has been horrifically killed when he was pumped full of air with an electric compressor pump after his friends put the nozzle up his backside.

Kanha Yadav, 6, died when the children's game went tragically wrong, police in India have said.

The boy's father worked in a factory and had lived on the same site with his family in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Two boys brought the six-year-old to his family home, where his father, Ramchandra Yada, realised something was wrong.

Mr Yada told NDTV in India: "His stomach was swollen. I immediately took him to the hospital.

"I have come to know that his friends pumped air into him using an air compressor at the factory."

Inspector of Bhanwar Kua police station Sanjay Shukla said: "The father of the deceased works in a factory in Palda industrial area and lives with his family on the premises.

"As per the initial investigation, we have come to know that the boy's friends filled his abdomen with air by inserting an air compressor's nozzle into his rectum when they were playing."

The boy died at the government-run Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital and has been sent for a post mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
