Boy, 6, fighting for life after being pulled from Spanish swimming pool

An boy is fighting for his life in Spain after being found unconscious in a swimming pool.

The youngster, believed to be on holiday from Ireland, was found shortly after 8am local time by a passersby,

It is understood that the boy is aged 6.

A call was received just after 8am saying a child had fallen into a swimming pool at the Aguamarina villas in Cabo Roig, near Alicante.

He was pulled out, but was unconscious.

A local confirmed to the Irish Mirror that the boy was spotted by neighbors who pulled him from the water and alerted emergency services.

Local Police from Orihuela were first on the scene.

The boy was taken by air ambulance to Alicante General Hospital after he had been stabalised.

He is believed to be on holiday with his grandparents, from Cork.

The eyewitness added: "They were working on him for two hours before transferring him to the hospital in Alicante.

"It's shocking, but emergency services were great."
