Boy, 6, dies in single-car crash near Moulamein in NSW Murray River region

A child has died and a second is in hospital after a single-vehicle crash near the New South Wales-Victorian border.

Emergency services were called to Moulamein Road at Moulamein, about 110km north-west of Deniliquin, on Thursday afternoon in response to reports a vehicle had rolled.

NSW police said they found a Toyota HiLux with significant damage.

A six-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car died at the scene.

A four-year-old boy, who was also travelling in the car, was treated by paramedics from both NSW and Victoria, before being flown to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

He is in a stable condition.

The driver, a 31-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Specialist officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Moulamein Road re-opened to traffic Friday morning.
