Boy, 5, trapped himself in handcuffs and parents could not find keys

Firefighters in Bristol were today called to a five-year-old boy who had trapped himself in handcuffs.

Bedminster Fire Station tweeted on Sunday they were called to an incident where a five-year-old had placed handcuffs on his ankles.

Crews then had to use a pedal cutter and bolt croppers to release them.

The tweet - which ended with the hashtag #playtime and #copsandrobbers# added: "If you keep handcuffs in the house, keep hidden from children and remember where the key is."

Social media users reacted to what the fire service tweeted.

One said: "Why on earth would anyone have handcuffs in a house?..."

Another one added: "Lol! Dad always kept a pair clamped to a water pipe. To the day he died I never knew where the key was hidden. A former officer finally gave me a key to remove the cuffs."
