Boy, 5, fighting for life after being knocked off scooter in collision with car

A five-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after being knocked off his scooter as he rode along a residential street near Wandsworth Common.

Police rushed to the scene of the collision just after the end of school on Tuesday in Herondale Avenue, south west London.

The schoolboy’s parents are at his bedside as he fights for life in hospital from his injuries.

The driver stopped at the scene and is helping officers with their enquiries.

They have not been arrested.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 3.58pm on Tuesday, May 24, to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Herondale Avenue, SW18. Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service.

“A five-year-old boy, who was riding a child’s scooter, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. His parents are with him.”
