Boy, 5, dropped off at WRONG school where no-one knew him and left there for hours

A five-year-old boy was dropped off at the wrong schoo l by his oblivious parents and left there for hours.

Police eventually tracked them down after dumping the little lad at Park Lakes Elementary School in Florida, US, where he is not enrolled.

Officers were called when bewildered teachers didn't recognise him after he was found wandering around the corridors.

They released a photograph of the youngster hoping that someone could help them identify his parents, with the child unable to give staff any information.

A driver left him at the gates on Monday morning and sped away, leaving the kid alone and unable to talk to anyone, police said.

He had no connection at all with the school they said, and an investigation is underway.

Witnesses said the boy was in 'good spirits' despite being dumped at a school he had never set foot in before.

Local news state the child remained at Broward County as deputies urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers before eventually being contacted by the parents.

They tweeted: "BSO deputies are working a developing incident regarding a 5yo child located at Park Lakes Elementary in Lauderdale Lakes. The child doesn't appear to be registered at the school, & deputies are unable to locate his parent(s)/guardian. If you know who he is, call 954-764-HELP."

He was initially placed in the care of Child Protective Investigations Section workers before they were located.

It was not yet clear if the parents are to face charges, or what led to him being dropped off at a school he did not attend.

Nearby, another young boy who was found walking alone on a street in Fort Lauderdale returned home.

Police were able to reunite the nine year old - who has special needs - with his family after several hours knocking on doors.

A man who found him said: "He was just walking around. He went across the street without seeing. That's why I stopped my vehicle in the middle of the street, to try to cover the kid - then I called the cops."
