Boy, 4, rushed to hospital after ingesting 'unknown substance' at hotel in Liverpool

A four-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after ingesting an "unknown substance" at a popular hotel in Liverpool this morning.

Emergency services arrived at the Adelphi Hotel, Ranelagh Street,  at around 9.55am, followed by police and forensic officers who have since recovered the substance for testing.

The child was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for assessment and enquiries into the incident are ongoing, according to the Liverpool Echo .

Two forensic officers were seen entering the hotel this morning, a witness said.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police confirmed the force was investigating and said: "The substance has been recovered for testing."

The child's condition is not known.

The three-star hotel is managed by Britannia Hotels.
