Boy, 4, has broken pelvis after being 'knocked off bike'

A four-year-old boy hurt in a Hartcliffe crash has a broken pelvis.

Residential street Cobhorn Drive was closed to traffic after a four-year-old was hurt in a crash at 6pm on June 26.

People in the area told Bristol Live a young boy on a bike was struck by a car driven by a woman.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said today (July 2): "The boy who was taken into hospital with potential life-threatening injuries has improved.

"His condition is no longer being treated as life threatening. He has been sitting up and talking to his family. He has a broken pelvis."

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the collision.

South Western Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and several incident response cars to the crash scene on June 26.

They treated the boy at the roadside before he was taken to hospital.

One local resident, who said they saw the crash, described it as "awful".

He said: “It was a little kid. He must’ve been about around four years old, and he was on a little bike.

“He was knocked off his bike by a woman driving a car. She stopped her car and the boy’s parents were there.

“The police and the ambulance came quickly and it looked really bad."
