Boy, 4, finds mum, 25, dead in the bath after she's electrocuted during phone call

A young mother was found dead by her toddler son after she was electrocuted by her smartphone while taking a bath.

Anastasia Scherbinina, 25, died instantly from massive electric shock after dropping her mobile device into the water, police said.

She was found by her four-year-old son who then tried to revive her by hitting her cheeks, according to her relatives.

The incident occurred last weekend in the town of Toguchin in southwestern Siberia, Russia.

Anastasia had taken her smartphone to the bathroom because she was waiting for an important call, according to local reports.

It is thought the phone's battery was almost flat, so she attached it to a power supply extension cable and put everything on a shelf before getting into the water.

The phone rang while Anastasia was soaking herself and she picked it up.

It is then believed that the phone slipped out of her hand and fell into the water along, pulling the extension cable with it.

Anastasia's son, who was at home at the time, reportedly rushed to the bathroom after hearing a bang which caused the electricity to short circuit and the lights to go out.

The boy is said to have found his mother lying motionless in the bathtub filled with water and tried to wake her up.

After realising his attempts were in vain, the toddler called his grandmother who alerted the emergency services.

A forensic investigation found the victim died instantly from a fatal electric shock.

A friend close to the family told local media: ''Anastasia had a huge burn on her chest.

''The boy tried to revive her. He then called his grandma and said, 'I'm hitting her on the cheeks but she is dead'.''

The child, who is now living with his grandma, believes that doctors saved his mother’s life and that they will be reunited soon.

''The boy says his mother is being treated in hospital. He is waiting for her to return home after getting better,'' relatives said.

Police are investigating the incident to determine all the circumstances of the victim's death.
