Boy, 4, fighting for life after being hit by car near beach as police launch probe

A four-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car.

The incident happened on Northdown Road in Cliftonville, near the junction with Arthur Road, in Margate, Kent, on Thursday.

The boy was taken to a London hospital after the incident involving a Hyundai Tucson.

Police are urging witnesses to come forward with any information.

A statement by Kent Police says: "Witnesses are being urged to come forward after a young pedestrian suffered serious injuries in a collision in Cliftonville.

"The incident happened on Northdown Road, near the junction with Arthur Road, shortly before 11.15am on Thursday 29 April 2021.

"The pedestrian, a boy aged four, was taken to a London hospital following the collision involving a black Hyundai Tucson.

"He remains in a critical condition."

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance told the Mirror: "Ambulance crews attended the scene following reports a child had been hit by a car.

"The air ambulance service joined us at the scene.

"The child was treated before being airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London with potentially serious injuries."
