Boy, 3, killed while riding bike was accidentally knocked down by dad who didn't see him

A three-year-old boy tragically killed while riding his new bike on a farm was accidentally run over by his dad, it has been reported.

Little Ianto Jenkins died at the scene in the rural village of Efailwen, near Clynderwen, in Pembrokeshire on Tuesday.

Dad Guto Jenkins is said to have been driving a pick-up truck and trailer in the yard of his dairy farm when he hit his son.

According to the Sun, the father failed to notice Ianto - leading to the horror incident.

No one else was injured and police have launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Dad-of-two Guto has changed his profile picture on Facebook to one of him and his son, under which hundreds of people have left supportive comments.

One person said: "Thinking of you all at this sad time, words cannot express enough for the loss of little Ianto."

Another added: "Thinking of you all in this terrible time keep your chin up and be strong always here if u need anything for pal."

Minister and county councillor Huw George said that the community is pulling together after the tragic death.

He said: "One strong point of this community is that it's strong, it's close.

"People will be there and sense when help is needed and if people ask for help, they will get it, because how do you begin to explain and begin to say something which means anything at a time like this."

Farmer and shop owner Carwyn James added that everyone in the close-knit community was deeply affected by the news.

He said: "People will fail to imagine the pain this poor family are going through at the moment.

"It's an amazing place to raise children on a farm, but with it there are dangers. It's just so terribly sad."

Dyfed-Powys Police said they were called to the 270-acre dairy farm at around 7pm on August 3.

The plot is run by Guto and was bought by his dad Iwan and mum Meinir in 1994.

The force said the death was not being treated as suspicious and it was working with the coroner to investigate.

The Health and Safety Executive have also been informed.
