Boy, 3, injured in crocodile enclosure ‘smiling’ after seven operations

  • A three-year-old boy, seriously injured after allegedly being thrown into a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons of Old Hurst, Cambridgeshire, is now talking, playing with his feet, and smiling after multiple surgeries.
  • His parents expressed relief, saying they were unsure if he would survive the initial 12-hour operation for severe injuries to his arms, neck, head, and face.
  • The boy recently underwent his seventh surgery, a nerve graft on his left arm, with the hope of regaining function in his hand, though success won't be known for months.
  • A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the 18 June incident and later bailed, with an investigation into his care ongoing due to reported learning difficulties.
  • More than £70,000 has been raised on a GoFundMe page to support the family financially as they prepare for the boy's continued recovery and rehabilitation at home.
