Boy, 3, hit by car in Huyton and taken to hospital

A three-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car this morning.

The toddler was struck by a Ford KA in Huyton at 8.15am say police.

Police confirmed the young pedestrian was taken to hospital after the incident in Bluebell Lane.

Thankfully police said the boy appears to have avoided serious injury.

The road was blocked off both ways while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The driver stayed at the scene to assist with enquiries.

The road was reopened shortly after 9am.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that officers were in Huyton dealing with a road traffic collision this morning, Tuesday 27 April.

"At around 8.15am, we were called to Bluebell Lane to reports of a collision between an orange Ford KA and three-year-old boy pedestrian.

"The child was taken to hospital for assessment as a precaution, but fortunately did not sustain any serious injuries.

"The driver stayed at the scene to assist with enquiries. The road was reopened shortly after 9am."
