A mum is accused of letting her three-year-old son drown in a pond as she was too hungover to look after him the morning after a night of partying.
The mum claimed her boy drowned as she couldn't afford child locks.
But despite her claims of poverty, police say they found cannabis, drug paraphernalia and $100 (£80) in cash in her home in Ormond Beach, Florida.
During the search on Sunday, April 23, police also said they found a freezer loaded with alcohol as they carried out a search of the apartment.
Myra Otsie Santiago, 22, had been out with a friend the night before her son died after leaving him at home alone.
A neighbour had been asked to lie to police saying they had watched the tot, but they refused to according to police.

The day after going out, Santiago did not wake up until 1.44pm. It was then she discovered her son, Aziryh, was missing, said police.
She began searching for her missing son, and as she searched she came across crime scene tape beside a pond. Authorities tried to resuscitate her son but he was declared dead.
Surveillance footage from a neighbour showed Aziryh running past their door at around 6.46am, with what looked like a blue tablet in his hands.
He would go to his mother's room every morning to get his tablet before returning to his room to play on it.
In her original police statement, Santiago claimed she got back from partying between 1am and 2am, and picked her son up from a neighbour.
But the neighbour informed investigators Santiago had asked her to lie to police, showing them texts between the pair.
A quote from a police officer in their report circling local media, said: "I asked Myra later about this, she advised that AS has escaped several times from the apartment and that she has found him on the stairs before."
The officer continued: "Myra advised she enquired with the maintenance staff about a child safety lock, and they told her if she purchased the lock, they would install it. Myra advised she did not have the funds available to pay for the lock.
"It should be noted that there was over $100 cash seen laying on Myra's dresser as well as numerous glass smoking pipes, marijuana, e-cigarettes and several bottles of alcohol in the freezer.
"There was plenty of evidence to show that Myra had the funds to purchase the lock, but failed to do so."
