A three-year-old boy has died after being left alone inside a roasting hot car for hours while his parents ran errands.
It was 30°C in Acapulco, Mexico when the child, who has not been named, was left inside the back of the car with the windows closed.
Local media reports the parents are teachers and his mum went to do paperwork at the education ministry and parked the car outside.
Meanwhile, his dad also went to run errands and left the child behind.
It is not clear if each parent assumed the other had their son.
It's believed the child was left inside the car from around 9am and was not spotted by a passerby until 1pm, who broke the car's window.
When they pulled the boy out of the car, they found him that he was unconscious but still alive.
The child was taken to the private hospital of Magallanes, where he later died.
It is reported that the boy died from suffocation but it has not yet been officially confirmed.
The body of the child was then taken by the authorities to undergo a post mortem.
The car has also been seized, but it has not been reported whether the parents have been arrested.
The investigation is ongoing. Temperatures are averaging just over 30 degrees Celsius in Acapulco this week.
