Boy, 2, rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Leeds Tesco car park

A two-year-old boy was taken to hospital today after being hit by a car in a Tesco car park in Leeds.

Police said a white Volkswagen golf hit the boy this afternoon in the car park of the Tesco on Roundhay Road.

He was not seriously injured, but is remaining in hospital for observation.

In a statement, West Yorkshire Police confirmed they were called out to a road traffic collision at 12.35pm today, Monday, December 20.

The police further confirmed the driver involved was spoken to by police officers.

Officers put up a scene for investigative collision work.

This was removed just before 4pm.

The full statement from a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson reads: "At 12:35pm today, police were called to a road traffic collision in the car park of the Tesco store, in Roundhay Road, Leeds.

"A two-year-old boy had been involved in a collision with a white Volkswagen Golf.

"The child was taken to hospital for treatment and was not found to have any serious injuries but is being kept for observations.

"The driver involved has been spoken to by officers.

"A scene was put in place for collision investigation work and was removed shortly before 4pm."
