First picture of boy, 18, killed after 'stolen' scrambler bike crashes into car

Tributes have been paid to a teen who died following a crash between a stolen scrambler bike and a car.

James Malins, 18, was named locally as the teenager on the bike with a fellow rider when it collided with a Volkswagen Tiguan on Booker Avenue, Allerton, Liverpool, at 8.40pm yesterday.

The other rider, also 18, sustained serious injuries in the incident, reports the Liverpool Echo .

Dozens of young people gathered at the scene of the crash and have laid flower tributes to James, who was nicknamed 'Fish'.

Social media posts included: "Never forgot u brudda never had bad bone in ur body love u forever lad."

Another said: "Rest in peace brudda, one of the realist cant get me head round it that ur gone man memories will always be here kid."

Merseyside Police said the suspected stolen motorcycle is believed to have been travelling in tandem along Booker Avenue with another scrambler when the crash occurred.

The Tiguan car had two children, aged nine and 11, on board although they are not understood to have suffered serious injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: "Witnesses have reported that neither of the bikes had any lights on. The second bike stopped initially and then made off towards Mather Avenue."

House-to-house enquiries are being carried out and CCTV opportunities are also being explored.

Chief Inspector Kevin Chatterton, said: "Our enquiries into this incident are at an early stage and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the two scrambler bikes prior to the collision at around 8.40pm."
