Boy, 17, shot in West Town

A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Tuesday in West Town on the Near West Side.

He was on the sidewalk about 6:40 p.m. in the 2200 block of West Maypole Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Chicago police said.

The teen was struck in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.
