Boy, 16, wounded in Uptown shooting

A 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Friday in Uptown on the North Side.

He was on the sidewalk about 2:18 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Hazel Street when someone approached him and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The teen was hit in the leg and taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area North detectives are investigating.
