A 16-year-old boy has been committed to trial for the murder of the Aberdeen schoolboy Bailey Gwynne in a private court hearing.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, made no plea or declaration and was remanded after his appearance at Aberdeen sheriff court on Friday.
He will stand trial on charges of murder, carrying a knife or blade on school premises, and carrying an offensive weapon on school premises.
Bailey, 16, died after an incident at Cults academy on Wednesday 28 October. Police were called to the school and Bailey was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal infirmary, where he died.
Pupils returned to the school on Monday for special assemblies after a two-day closure. Bailey’s family released a statement thanking well-wishers for their support.
