A sixteen-year-old boy was fatally stabbed near a south London park on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to reports of a fight at a venue in Angus Street, New Cross, near Fordham Park, where they found a boy suffering from stab wounds.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are aware, officers said.

Police also cordoned off the nearby Evelyn Community Centre (Evening Standard)

A crime cordon was put in place for a section of the park in front of the Moonshot Community Centre with around ten police vehicles and ambulances at the scene.

A helicopter from the London Air Ambulance was also called to the stabbing.

Police taped off the nearby Evelyn Community Centre as part of their enquiries. Officers could be seen entering the centre wearing vests, with a police van present at the scene.

Scotland Yard said no arrests had been made.

A Section 60 Order granting police additional stop and search powers was authorised for the entirety of the borough of Lewisham in the wake of the incident.
