A teenage boy injured in a drive-by Sunday in Bridgeport on the South Side is the ninth child to be struck by gunfire this weekend in Chicago.

The 16-year-old was walking at 3:14 a.m. in the 900 block of West 31st Street when someone shot at him from a passing black sedan, according to Chicago police.

He was hit in the leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.

Eight other children have been shot across the city since Friday evening, at least three of them in accidental shootings.
