Boy, 16, injured in 'stabbing' in Inverclyde street

A teenager was taken to hospital after reportedly being stabbed in Port Glasgow.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the boy, 16, was attacked in Auchenbothie Road on Friday night.

Emergency crews were called to the scene after the teen was targeted between 10.30pm and 11.30pm.

The victim remained in hospital on Saturday but his condition is unknown.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers are currently investigating the alleged assault of a 16-year-old boy, which reportedly took place in the Auchenbothie Road area of Port Glasgow sometime between 10.30pm and 11.30pm.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
