Boy, 16, in hospital with serious head injury after attack in Prestwick park

A 16-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital following an attack in the centre of Prestwick last night.

Police have closed off the town's Boydfield Gardens as they probe the assault, which took place around 8.35pm.

Officers say the teenager was set upon by three male youths, who then ran off with some of his personal property.

The victim was rushed to Ayr Hospital with a serious head injury.

Two police cars remain stationed at the Gardens this afternoon, with the area completely roped off to the public.
